Overview

The Mirka 24-5MH-060 Iridium 5 in. Grip 89H 60 Grit Hook and Loop Sanding Disc Pack of 50 is a 5-inch abrasive disc pack built for surface prep, stock removal, and general sanding on compatible random orbital sanders. This is a hook and loop sanding disc designed for aggressive early-stage sanding and fast material removal. Model Number: 24-5MH-060. If you do enough sanding to burn through discs regularly, buying a 50-pack makes sense because you are not stopping halfway through a job to hunt for replacements.

The big selling point here is the combination of a 60 grit cut and an 89-hole dust extraction pattern. A 60 grit disc is what you reach for when the surface still needs real work, not just a finish pass. It is suited to stripping rough material, knocking down high spots, and getting panels or parts ready for the next grit. The 89-hole layout matters because better dust flow helps keep the abrasive face clearer, which usually means a more consistent cut and less loading during sanding.

Mirka built this as a grip-style sanding disc, which means fast attachment and removal on a compatible backing pad. On the bench or on a jobsite, that saves time every time you change grit. For production sanding, that small detail adds up fast. A 5-inch disc size also keeps it in the sweet spot for common orbital sanding work where you want a manageable disc that covers surface area without getting awkward on edges, curves, or smaller parts.

The Mirka 24-5MH-060 Iridium 5 in. Grip 89H 60 Grit Hook and Loop Sanding Disc Pack of 50 is also set up for users who care about dust management. When sanding discs clog up, they stop cutting the way they should and you end up leaning harder on the tool. A multi-hole pattern helps move dust away from the work surface and away from the abrasive face, which is better for cut quality and better for keeping sanding more controlled over longer sessions.

From a buying standpoint, this product is straightforward. You are getting a pack of 50 Mirka Iridium sanding discs in a 5-inch size, with grip backing, 89 holes, and 60 grit. That makes it a practical choice for shops and serious users who want one disc type ready for repetitive prep work instead of buying a few discs at a time. It is a better fit for people who already know they need a coarse sanding disc for the front end of the sanding process.

Who should buy it? Anyone running a compatible 5-inch hook and loop sander and doing frequent prep work. It makes sense for woodworking, refinishing, body prep, paint removal, and general material cleanup where 60 grit is the right starting point. If you are looking for a finish-ready scratch pattern, this is not your last step. If you need to remove material efficiently before moving to finer grits, this is the kind of disc you keep on hand.

Fast Prep for the First Sanding Pass

When you need to remove material instead of just smooth it, a coarse sanding disc is the right place to start. This Mirka abrasive is sized for common 5-inch sanding setups and built for quick disc changes when the job moves from rough prep to the next grit.

• 60 grit is suited to heavier sanding, stripping, and leveling work
• 89-hole pattern supports dust extraction across the disc face
• Grip backing makes disc swaps fast on compatible hook and loop pads
